Hop, Hop, Hop Into Fun

Hello there Mingles! Easter is just a few days away now. It is a time of joy, renewal, and—most importantly—treats! Hoomans celebrate with pastel decorations, delicious feasts, and, of course, the classic Easter egg hunt.
Mingles, let me help you plan the purr-fect Easter celebration to enjoy with my fellow fluffy, four-legged friends. Easter egg hunts aren’t just for tiny hoomans who scream with excitement at the sight of a pastel-colored egg. We pets want in on the fun too! So, let me tell you how to make an Easter egg hunt that’s fun, safe, and utterly delightful for us fabulous cats (okay, and dogs too).
Separate Hunts: Because Chaos Is Overrated
Hoomans have this odd idea that cats and dogs enjoy doing things the same way. We don’t. While my Pekingese bestie loves to bounce around chasing rolling objects, I prefer a more sophisticated approach—sniffing out hidden goodies with the grace of a jungle panther. So, hosting two separate Easter egg hunts—one for hooman kiddos and one for pets—is a genius move.
For the small hoomans, you can go with the classic hunt: brightly colored eggs filled with candy, scattered around the yard or house. Let them squeal, run, and celebrate their sugar-fueled victories while we pets prepare for our own exclusive hunt.
Pet-Safe Easter Egg Hunt
Now, onto the important part—our Easter fun! Instead of candy, fill pet-safe plastic eggs with treats designed just for us. But first, let’s talk safety.
-
Use large, vented plastic eggs so they don’t pose a choking hazard.
-
No chocolate or anything toxic—only pet-friendly goodies allowed!
-
Make sure no human candy ends up in our paws. Sugar rushes are NOT our thing.
Delicious Egg Fillers for Furry Friends
This is a call to my lovely, bouncy and equally fabulous hooman: if you’re feeling extra creative, whip up some homemade treats! Here’s an easy recipe Bruns and I will definitely love.
Easter Treat Recipe: Chicken & Pumpkin Nibbles
Ingredients:
-
½ cup cooked, shredded chicken (no seasoning!)
-
¼ cup canned pumpkin (pure, not the spiced pie filling!)
-
1 egg (because, you know, Easter)
-
½ cup oat flour (or ground oats)
-
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, but makes coats extra shiny!)
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a bowl, mix all ingredients until they form a dough.
-
Roll into tiny, bite-sized balls or use cute cookie cutters (because aesthetics matter!).
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and slightly crunchy.
-
Let them cool completely before stuffing them into our Easter eggs.
Hiding the Eggs: A Game for All!
Now, onto the best part—finding the eggs!
-
For dogs: Hide them in the yard or an open area where they can sniff them out easily. Dogs have a nose for adventure and will enjoy the chase!
-
For cats: Hide them in places that make us use our natural hunting skills—inside boxes, behind furniture, or under light blankets. (Pro tip: If the egg rolls, we’re 100% more likely to engage.)
The Grand Egg Hunt Finale!
Once all the eggs are found and all the treats devoured, it’s time for a nap. (For us pets, not the hoomans—you seem to run on some invisible energy source.)
So there you have it! An Easter egg hunt that’s fun for everyone, regardless of species. Easter is all about new beginnings, joy, and togetherness, and what better way to celebrate than by including every member of the family—furry ones included! So, go forth, embrace the festive spirit, and make this Easter paws-itively unforgettable!
